Paramount Pictures has given the go ahead for a reboot of “The Naked Gun” franchise with Liam Neeson in negotiations to star.
“Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers” writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand have closed a deal to reunite with that film’s director Akiva Schaffer on the project, replacing previous writers Mark Hentemann & Alec Sulkin.
Plot specifics are under wraps but it’s rumored Neeson will be playing the son of Leslie Nielsen’s iconic Frank Drebin character as opposed to a straight remake with him taking over the iconic character.
Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing. The project has been in the works on and off for years, but the success of “Top Gun: Maverick” led to development pushing forward.
