New “Jurassic World” Targets Big Launch

New Jurassic World Targets Big Launch
Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s “Jurassic World: Dominion” is reportedly on track to pull in $125 million domestically this coming weekend, along with as much again internationally.

Opening in more than 4,600 theaters across North America, that debut amount is below the $148 million start of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” in 2018, and the absolute smash opening of “Jurassic World” with $208.8 million in 2015.

By end of the weekend, the film is expected to have racked up to $325 million or more globally, and that’s despite poor reviews with the film garnering just 38% (5.0/10) on Rotten Tomatoes as compared to 47% (5.4/10) for ‘Fallen Kingdom’ and 71% (6.6/10) for the first “Jurassic World”.

With ruling champ “Top Gun: Maverick” still going very strong, this weekend is being seen as a good test as to whether the market can once again expand enough to support multiple major tentpole titles.
