New Home Sought For “Home Economics”

ABC

Following the cancellation of the ABC comedy “Home Economics” after three seasons, the show’s co-creator Mike Colton confirms he and fellow co-creator John Aboud hope to find the series a new home.

The series follows the lives of three siblings – the elder brother (Topher Grace) is the patriarch of a middle class family with three kids, the middle daughter (Caitlin McGee) is married with two adopted kids and barely scraping by in a small apartment, and the youngest brother (Jimmy Tatro) is a newly divorced guy who got lucky and is ultra-rich.

It launched in 2021 and finished airing its third season back in January. The series was on the bubble for a while until Friday when the network officially cancelled the series.

Posting on Instagram today to thank everyone, Colton then revealed the hopes of finding the series a new home:

“Making 42 episodes of Home Economics has been the best experience of my career, and that’s due to our incredible cast, crew and fans.

Though the show has run its course at ABC, I’m hopeful the Hayworths will pop up somewhere else, if only so I can continue to embarrass my real-life family.

Thank you to those who’ve reached out and expressed your love and support of the show.”

The series is inspired by Colton’s real-life experiences. Karla Souza, Sasheer Zamata, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain co-starred.
