Ahead of the arrival of “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” in cinemas this coming Friday, Hasbro is reportedly planning a brand new “G.I. Joe” animated series to debut sometime next year.
HissTank (via ComicBook.com) reports that Hasbro Brazil’s head of licensing, Marcelo Masotti, recently revealed at Licensing Con Brazil that a new animated series is coming next year based on the property and already has a second season scheduled for 2023.
The site adds that it wasn’t revealed whether this will be a network or streaming service release, but a clip was reportedly shown featuring Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.
The new series is expected to have a larger roster of characters than the new film which is fairly self-contained and seems to restrict things to Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, and Ursula Corbero as the Baroness.
“Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” meanwhile arrives in cinemas on July 23rd.
