SNK has officially announced that a new entry in the “Fatal Fury” game franchise is on the way, a full 23 years after the last one (“Garou: Mark of the Wolves”) debuted back in 1999.
Announced during the Evo 2022 tournament this weekend, a teaser video was shown with the text: “The city of legend still breathes. Hungry Wolves back on the prowl. A new destiny hidden in darkness. New Fatal Fury / Garou greenlit.”
Several characters from the series like Terry Bogard, Joe Higashi and Mai Shiranui have appeared in other fighting games such as the “King of Fighters” franchise and, more recently “Super Smash Bros Ultimate”.
That’s not the only long-running fighting franchise getting a new entry. Bandai Namco reportedly released a brief teaser for what appeared to be a “Tekken 8” as part of the same Evo 2022 tournament.
This would mark the first new entry in the series since “Tekken 7” was released in 2015. That game will be getting a free update as well on August 17th, while a “Tekken” anime series hits later this year.
