Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have announced an October 13th 2023 release date for the first of their upcoming trilogy based on “The Exorcist” film franchise.
The release date comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that Peacock, Blumhouse and Morgan Creek had closed a reported $400 million-plus deal to purchase worldwide rights for the films.
Ellen Burstyn reprises her role and is joined by Leslie Odom Jr. in the film as a father of a possessed child who seeks out the aid of Burstyn’s character Chris MacNeil.
David Gordon Green, who helmed the “Halloween” revival in 2018 and its sequels, directs the new trilogy.
