New “Call of Duty” To Battle Toxic Gamers

Activision

One of the biggest reasons diehard fans of single-player games won’t touch multiplayer titles is because of the toxic gamers on voice chats.

In an effort to try and curb the problem with the “Call of Duty” franchise, Activision has announced that they are collaborating with Modulate to create a new voice chat moderation system.

Set to debut this November 10th with “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III,” Modulate’s AI-powered system known as ToxMod aims to deliver “global real-time voice chat moderation, at-scale”.

The technology will reportedly be able to identify toxic voice chat – including hate speech, discriminatory language, and harassment – in real-time and enforce against it.

Activision says the system is managed by them, with voice chat monitored and recorded for the purpose of moderation. Any violations against the game’s Code of Conduct will follow in line with their standard policies.

A beta version of the chat moderation technology rolled out yesterday on “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” and “Call of Duty: Warzone”. It will support English only to start, but other languages will follow later.
