Netflix has released the trailer for “Operation Varsity Blues,” its new documentary film about the infamous 2019 college admissions scandal that made global news and ensnared actresses such as Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman who faced legal repercussions.
“Fyre” director and “Tiger King” executive producer Chris Smith helms the work which offers a deep dive into the methods used by a man named Rick Singer to get the children of his wealthy clients into top schools – including admission test fraud, falsifying sports credentials and bribery of school officials.
The film uses a combination of interviews and narrative recreations of the FBI’s wiretapped conversations between Singer and his clients, with actor Matthew Modine taking on the role of Singer for those scenes.
“Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal” debuts on Netflix on March 17th.
