Netflix’s “Monster,” “Watcher” Score Renewals

Netflix

Following the immense success of both, Netflix has ordered more instalments of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” and “The Watcher” series.

“The Watcher” is getting a straightforward second-season renewal, whereas “Monster” is turning into a seasonal anthology format (ala “American Horror Story”) with an additional two seasons being ordered.

It has not been revealed what the two additional instalments of “Monster” will cover beyond “telling the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society”.

The news isn’t a shock. The “Dahmer” series has been a ratings juggernaut and is on course to reach a billion hours viewed in the coming weeks. “The Watcher” has also been a hit and pulled in 125 million hours viewed in its first five days.

The success of both shows has silenced critics of Murphy’s previous Netflix shows like “Ratched,” “Hollywood” and “Halston” which had little impact on the streamer.
