Timed with Pokemon Day celebrations, Netflix and The Pokemon Company have announced the new original stop-motion animated series “Pokemon Concierge”.
Produced by Dwarf Animation Studio (“Rilakkuma and Kaoru”), “Pokemon Concierge” uses stop-motion animation techniques to tell an array of new original stories, inspired by the comics, anime, and fan contributions to the Pokemon series.
The series will follow a young girl who works at a hotel whose only customers are Pokémon in a show that moves away from the action/adventure tone of other recent “Pokemon” screen adaptations.
Netflix vice president of Asia Pacific content Minyoung Kim says: “We have a group of experts here in Japan who are passionate about finding and developing original stories from Japan that can excite audiences all over the world. With this title, we’re excited to marry an entirely new storyline that expands the Pokémon universe with groundbreaking stop-motion animation.”
The show was unveiled as part of the Pokemon Presents event live stream on Monday with Netflix sharing a brief Psyduck-centric brief teaser for the show. The Pokemon Company and Netflix did not reveal details about when the series will premiere.
