Netflix has confirmed a forty anime title line-up that will bow on the service across the rest of this year, including new series and returning fan favorites.

The reveal was part of the AnimeJapan stage event, with title announcements including “Thermae Romae Novae” and “Kotaro Lives Alone” which are now both available, along with Berlinale premiered “Bubble” which releases April 28th, Studio Colorido’s “Drifting Home” later this year, and “Vampire in the Garden” arriving on May 16th.

There was also a trailer for the return of the latest season of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” later this year, the main trailer for the second season of “Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045” which hits May 23rd, another teaser for the anime series adaptation of “Spriggan” arriving June 18th, and a character trailer for the second season of “Ultraman” hitting April 14th.

Netflix’s anime creative director Kohei Obara says more than half of Netflix’s members globally and nearly 90% of its Japanese members tuned into anime on the service last year and the streaming giant has no intention of slowing down.

The slate discussion comes as Netflix has emerged as a major global competitor to Sony’s Crunchyroll service following the latter’s absorption of Funimation. Crunchyroll this week indicated it will no longer offer free ad-supported streaming (AVOD) for newly-released episodes – going paid subscription streaming (SVOD) only for those.
