Netflix To Awards Campaign For Delroy Lindo

Netflix has confirmed it will campaign for beloved 67-year-old veteran actor Delroy Lindo in the lead actor category for the upcoming awards season including the Oscars.

Lindo’s role in Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” has drawn much acclaim and the category is often thought of as one that awards a long history of good work as opposed to just a single performance. Lindo has been a film and TV fixture for decades but has yet to receive proper awards recognition.

In the film Lindo plays Paul, a Vietnam veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder who travels back to Vietnam in search of the remains of his fallen squad leader. While the movie is an ensemble, Lindo’s character becomes the focal point of the story.

Co-stars Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock, Jr. and the late Chadwick Boseman will all campaign in supporting actor. Lindo has most recently had a regular role on CBS All Access’ acclaimed and controversy-skirting “The Good Fight” series.

Netflix will have numerous films in awards contention this year including David Fincher’s “Mank,” Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” Ron Howard’s “Hillbilly Elegy,” Charlie Kaufman’s “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” and the just acquired “Pieces of a Woman” should it release this year.
