Netflix is currently finishing up an acquisition deal to globally release 20th Century Studios’ “The Woman in the Window” on its service.
The adult-themed thriller, the last Fox 2000 feature to be produced before Disney came in and shuttered that division, is not seen as a good fit for the Disney+ service and so they are snagging some cash selling off this Scott Rudin-produced film based on A.J. Finn’s global bestselling novel.
Amy Adams stars as an agoraphobic child psychologist who witnesses a crime, while Gary Oldman, Brian Tyree Henry, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Anthony Mackie and Wyatt Russell also star. Tracy Letts adapted the screenplay and “Atonement” helmer Joe Wright directs.
The film reportedly received some poor test screening results late last year and has since undergone reshoots which were completed. It was originally going to be released theatrically in May and then was indefinitely delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
As the deal is still being finalised it’s not clear when Netflix will release the film, but it is finished and ready for release suggesting it will likely be sometime this Fall.
