Netflix Testing A Mobile-Only Plan

Netflix To Spend 15b On Content In 2019

Netflix is reportedly testing a new mobile-only subscription plan in ‘select countries’ including India. Said service would only cost half the price of the company’s basic streaming plan across all devices.

Netflix tells The Verge in a statement: “We are always looking for ways to make Netflix more enjoyable and accessible. We will be testing different options in select countries, where members can, for example, watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter increments of time.”

This suggests Netflix could be starting shorter subscription plans including weekly or biweekly. This is only in the testing phase at the moment so not all users will see the new plan.

Netflix is not commenting on which countries, aside from India, will be used as test markets.
