Netflix Snags Hidden Cam Comedy “Bad Trip”

After accidentally and only briefly releasing on Amazon last month, Orion Pictures comedy “Bad Trip” has now abandoned plans for a theatrical run and will be coming to Netflix shortly. The streamer made the announcement this afternoon.

The hidden-camera feature hails from “Jackass” producer Jeff Tremaine and stars Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery as two best friends on a cross-country road trip full of pranks, pulling real people into the action. Tiffany Haddish co-stars.

The acquisition caps off a busy few days of U.S. acquisitions of smaller films. Screen Media has acquired Roger Michell’s family dramedy “Blackbird” starring Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet and Sam Neill. Bleecker Street has acquired period revenge thriller” The Secrets We Keep” starring Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman and Chris Messina. Finally, Gravitas Ventures has nabbed the worldwide distribution rights to dark comedy “aTypical Wednesday” starring J Lee, Seth Green and Michael Ealy.
