Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya has co-written the futuristic dystopian drama “The Kitchen” which has been set up at Netflix.

The story unfolds in London, 2044, a future where wage disparity is at breaking point – all forms of social housing have been eradicated and London’s working classes have been forced to live in temporary accommodation on the city’s outskirts.

The Kitchen is the first and the largest of its kind, and London’s last village harbouring residents that refuse to move on and move out of the place they call home.

There is Izi (Kane Robinson), a resident desperately trying to find a way out and twelve-year-old, Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman), who has lost his mother and is searching for a family. We follow the unlikely pair as they battle to survive in a system stacked against them.

Joe Murtagh (“Gangs of London”) also co-wrote the script based on an idea by Kaluuya, Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Emmerson. Tavares will direct the project which will shoot on location in London and Paris.

Michael Fassbender will executive produce alongside Conor McCaughan for DMC Film. Netflix plans a global release of the movie in 2023.
