Netflix has announced a December premiere for “Dragon Age: Absolution,” a new animated series based on the popular BioWare video game franchise.
A “Dragon Age” series was rumored to be in the works, with today’s news not only confirming its existence and release plans but also showing off a first look with a teaser trailer below.
Announced during the streamer’s Geeked Week event, the project is being created in collaboration with BioWare and is set around the Tevinter Imperium in the northern part of the continent of Thedas.
The story features an ensemble of new characters inspired by Dragon Age lore, including elves, mages, knights, Qunari, Red Templars, demons and other special surprises.
Mairghread Scott will serve as showrunner of the series which is being produced by Red Dog Culture House.
The series arrived ahead of the fourth game in the franchise, “Dragon Age: Dreadwolf,” which is currently in the works and follows on from 2014’s “Dragon Age: Inquisition” which scored multiple Game of the Year awards.
