With “Rebel Moon” having come and gone, filmmaker Zack Snyder has expressed his desire to move on to something smaller scale for his next project.
The chances of him doing further films in the “Rebel Moon” franchise seem essentially none at this point, but what about those plans for more “Army of the Dead” he announced a few years back?
That zombie action film was a success for the streamer, but its prequel spin-off “Army of Thieves” didn’t seem to make much of a splash. Snyder had intended to do both new films and an animated series.
Now, The Wrap is reporting that they have confirmed that the animated series was quietly canceled, as were plans for subsequent films.
Snyder acknowledges “we are very ambitious with everything” but either way the only thing in the franchise’s future for now seems to be a themed experience coming to the Six Flags theme parks this Halloween.
Both “Army of the Dead” and the “Rebel Moon” director’s cuts are now up on Netflix.
