Netflix has acquired the David F. Walker action comic “The Hated” with plans to turn it into a potential live-action western series.
The female-driven post-Civil War revisionist history western follows exploits of Araminta Free, a gun-slinging bounty hunter in a world where the Civil War ended differently – in a trice that divided the country into two.
Araminta specializes in crossing the border into the Confederacy tracking down vicious war criminals, which has made her a woman with a price on her head.
Emmy-nominated writer Michael Starrbury (“When They See Us,” “Colin in Black & White”) will serve as executive producer alongside Walker, Adrian Askariah and Sean Owolo.
