Netflix Plans Nike Biopic With “Shoe Dog”

Netflix has reportedly optioned the movie rights to Nike founder Phil Knight’s 2016 autobiography “Shoe Dog”.

Knight launched Nike in 1963 with $50 borrowed from his father with the plan to import high-quality, low-cost running shoes from Japan. Today the company’s annual sales top $36 billion.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (“Ed Wood,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt”) are writing the screenplay and Knight will produce with Frank Marshall – the pair having previously collaborated on “Back to the Future”.
