Netflix has announced plans for a live-action film adaptation of manga and anime sensation “My Hero Academia” to be produced by Legendary Entertainment.
Joby Harold (“Army of the Dead,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi”) is penning the screenplay for the live-action feature, which will be Shinsuke Sato’s English-language debut.
Debuting in 2014, the manga quickly became a worldwide smash and resulted in an anime series now in its sixth season. The story takes place in a world where 80% of people have a developed power called a ‘quirk’.
Superhero fanboy Izuku Midoriya (aka Deku) was born without a quirk makes him almost give up his dream of going to U.A. High School, the most prestigious hero training academy.
But after a chance encounter with the legendary All Might, Deku starts on the road to becoming the greatest hero.
Legendary bought the rights to a live-action adaptation in 2018 with Mary Parent and Alex Garcia to produce. Toho Co., Ltd. will distribute the film theatrically in Japan.
