Sony Pictures Animation is reportedly in development of a new “Ghostbusters” animated series for Netflix.
Plot details on the new series are currently being kept under wraps and no writer is attached at this time. Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, who co-wrote the recent live-action “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” film, are onboard as executive producers. Reitman will also direct.
This would mark the third animated series in the franchise following the iconic late 1980s syndicated series “The Real Ghostbusters” which ran for 140 episodes. Then came the less well known “Extreme Ghostbusters” which aired for 40 episodes.
