Netflix Picks Up Judd Apatow’s Next

Filmmaker Judd Apatow has set an untitled comedy at Netflix which he will direct, produce and co-write with Pam Brady. This will mark Apatow’s first feature film that isn’t at Universal Pictures.

The new film follows a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film.

While no talent have attached to star yet, Netflix is fast-tracking the project with actors being met shortly for an all-star ensemble that “could rival Knives Out or The Disaster Artist.”

Apatow’s most recent film “The King of Staten Island” has proven one of the biggest on-demand success stories of 2020 and an awards campaign for the film is currently being prepped.

The shift to Netflix for this project is said to be one due to timing rather than any animosity towards Universal which is still sorting itself out in the wake of the pandemic.
