A planned three-part road trip-style Netflix documentary that would’ve served as something of a reunion of the band members of One Direction has been scrapped following an on-set incident.
A report in The Sun (via The Metro) indicates that both Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were filming on location in Wyoming six months ago when “Zayn started acting up and was mouthing off”, according to their source.
The incident spiralled when Zayn allegedly “made a remark about Louis’ mom… Louis was stunned and in shock. As he went to move, Zayn then attacked him.”
Tomlinson’s late mom passed away from leukaemia in 2016. Tomlinson was reportedly shocked not just by the comments but also by an alleged blow that “cut his head and left him with a concussion”. The cuts were made by rings Zayn was allegedly wearing at the time.
Following the incident, efforts were made to bridge the gap between the two to no avail, forcing Netflix to “axe the series”. As the doc’s director, Nicola Marsh, summarily put on Instagram: “And there goes the last year of work”.
Following the attack, Tomlinson left for the UK while Malik returned to his farm in Pennsylvania, and the pair haven’t spoken in six months.
