Netflix has picked up the new superhero film package “Ball and Chain” which will see “Jungle Cruise” stars Emily Blunt with Dwayne Johnson re-teaming. Johnson, Blunt, Dany Garcia, Kevin Misher and Hiram Garcia will produce the film.
Based on Scott Lobdell’s 1990s comic of the same name, Emily V. Gordon will write the feature in which the pair play a couple struggling in their marriage and who are equipped with superpowers. One catch – their powers only work when they are together.
That’s not the streamer’s only acquisition today. The company has also acquired the rights to the in-development Mark Wahlberg-led “Our Man From Jersey”. The story, based on a pitch from Stephen Levinson (“Entourage”), is follows Wahlberg as a “blue collar 007”. David Guggenheim (“Safe House”) is penning the script while Wahlberg and Levinson will produce.
