Ness To Pen Guadagnino’s “Lord of the Flies”

“Chaos Walking” and “A Monster Calls” author Patrick Ness has been set to pen the newest adaptation of William Golding’s iconic 1954 novel “Lord of the Flies” for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The dark allegory tale follows a group of British boys stranded on a deserted jungle island without adult supervision. They soon devolve and embrace their primal urges, splitting into two groups – one trying to maintain some semblance of order, the other embracing savagery and idol worship.

The studio was at one point developing a female-skewing version, but has changed course and is aiming to do a closer adaptation of the original novel with this.

“Call Me by Your Name” and “Suspiria” helmer Luca Guadagnino is on board to direct the adaptation and produce with Marco Morabito.
