Neon has acquired the Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain-led psychological thriller “Mothers’ Instinct” for U.S. release.
Set in the 1960s, the story centers on best friends and neighbors who live in a suburban paradise. Both are mothers to two sons of the same age, and their idyllic domestic happiness is shattered after a tragic accident.
Guilt, suspicion, and paranoia bleed into their friendship as a psychological battle of wills takes place.
Belgian director Olivier Masset-Depasse helms, remaking his own 2018 film “Duelles” based on the novel by Barbara Abel, with filming to begin May 25th. Sarah Conradt (“50 States of Fright”) has adapted the script for the remake while Paul Nelson and Jacques-Henri Bronckart produce.
