The upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series sees two of the big stars of the “Star Wars” prequels returning – Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen.
Of course, another name who was a key part of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” was Liam Neeson as Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn.
Despite the character’s death in that film, fans over the years have hoped Neeson might return someday to the franchise. Speaking with ComicBook.com recently, the actor says he’s open to return but under one condition:
“Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so…if it was a film. Yeah, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit. I just like the big screen, you know?
Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s 24 years since we made ‘The Phantom Menace,’ I just cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a terrific experience, shooting that film in London.”
The fate of “Star Wars” on the big screen seems murky for the moment with the Skywalker saga over. “Star Wars” has currently moved to television for its primary delivery format.
The “Obi Wan-Kenobi” series is the next effort on that front and McGregor recently told EW that he rewatched the prequels for the first time since their releases in order to prep for the Disney+ series:
“It was interesting to watch our films because I hadn’t seen them since they came out, not at all. So it was cool to see and interesting to watch them and enjoy them without all of the noise that was around when they came out.”
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 27th.
