NBC has renewed all six of its Dick Wolf-produced series – the trio of “Chicago” and trio of “Law and Order” shows. All will get 22-episode orders bar ‘Organized Crime’ which is getting 13.
All three “Chicago” series are among the top-rated primetime programs on broadcast TV with the three-hour block on Wednesday nights consistently winning the night. In fact “Chicago P.D.” is currently tied for the No. 1 broadcast drama of the TV season in Live+7 data.
“Law & Order” also still performs well with both of the spin-offs (SVU, Organized Crime) in the top ten broadcast dramas of the TV season in the key demographic. NBC says SVU is the network’s top show for the season across all platforms once a month’s delayed viewing is accounted for.
The news isn’t so good over at The CW. A TV Line Renewal Scorecard report indicates “All American: Homecoming” is likely whilst “Superman & Lois” and “Walker” are “safe-ish bets” to return to The CW next season, joining “All American” which is the only officially renewed show thus far.
The fate of “Kung Fu,” “Gotham Knights,” “Walker: Independence” and “The Winchesters” however remains up in the air as the “Kung Fu” series “could go either way” whilst the other three are dubbed “long shots” for renewal.
The acclaimed “Superman & Lois” is currently airing its third season, and DC Studios chief James Gunn indicated in January the studio sees no problem with show getting another season as it won’t conflict with the DCU’s plans.
