The Oscar nominee Colman Domingo-led musical biopic of legendary singer Nat King Cole has landed a title – “Unforgettable”.
Deadline reports that Lionsgate has boarded the project for international sales and will launch the project before next week’s European Film Market.
Domingo not only stars as the singer but has also co-written the script, will produce the project and potentially make his directorial debut on it.
The film charts Cole’s journey as musician and quiet revolutionary. In his time, Cole was “navigating racial injustice, Hollywood sabotage and self doubt to ensure his legacy and help pave the way for future generations of artists and Black men and women.”
The project is aiming for a PG-13 rating with broad appeal and shooting hopes to get underway later this year.
Vernon Scott, co-wrote the script and will produce alongside Cassian Elwes, Charles D. King, William Rosenfeld, Poppy Hanks, Jimmy Edwards, Veronica Radaelli and Fred Berger.
