The official runtime of the director’s cut of Ridley Scott’s historical epic “Napoleon” has been revealed.
The longer version of the film isn’t the four-and-half hour version that Scott suggested last year, instead it will come in at around 205 minutes – just under three-and-a-half hours.
That’s 47 minutes longer than the 158-minute theatrical cut, which was released last year to middling reviews.
There’s hope we’ll get a repeat of “Kingdom of Heaven” here, which similarly saw its 144-minute theatrical cut open to mixed/poor reaction. Then its 45 minutes longer, 189-minute length director’s cut was released and hailed as a masterpiece.
The new cut also recently scored an MPA rating of R for “strong violence, grisly images, sexual content, some nudity and language”.
At present, there’s still no word on a release date for it, but a potential dropping on Apple TV+ sometime in the Fall seems the most likely bet.
