Naomi Watts is in talks to star in director Ted Melfi’s new independent drama film “St. Vincent De Van Nuys” for The Weinstein Company, Chernin Entertainment and Crescendo.
Bill Murray will star as a retired, grumpy, alcoholic Vietnam War veteran who becomes the chief influence on a sweet-hearted 12-year old boy (Jaeden Lieberher) whose hardworking single mother (Melissa McCarthy) foists child care duties onto the guy.
Watts will play a pregnant Russian call girl named Daka Parimova who develops a close emotional relationship with the veteran over the course of the film. Chris O’Dowd and Terrence Howard also star.
Filming is slated to begin in July, no word as to a potential release date at this time.
