“My Spy” Team May Reunite For A Sequel

STX is reportedly looking to reunite all the key players of the recent action comedy “My Spy” for a sequel with the aim of getting director Peter Segal, and stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman all to return.

Talks are reportedly still early and so no deals are in place and no potential plans for distribution are available at this time. The first film ditched a theatrical run (bar some overseas markets) for an Amazon Prime release where it pulled in big numbers and the streamer is said to be in early talks.

The first film followed JJ, a hardened CIA operative (Bautista) who has been demoted and finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, named Sophie (Coleman) where he has been sent undercover begrudgingly to surveil her family.

When Sophie discovers hidden cameras in her apartment, she uses her tech savviness to locate where the surveillance operation is set. In exchange for not blowing JJ’s cover Sophie convinces him to spend time with her and teach her to be a spy.

Kristen Schaal, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Chloe Coleman, Ken Jeong and Devere Rogers co-starred in the film.
