“Mustang” Director Tackling “Chatterly’s Lover”

Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (“The Mustang,” “Mrs. America”) is in active negotiations to direct a new adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s risque novel “Lady Chatterly’s Lover” for 3000 Pictures and Blueprint Pictures.

The story revolves around the life of Lady Chatterley, a woman born to a life of wealth and privilege, who soon finds herself married to a man that she eventually falls out of love with.

She engages in a torrid affair with a gamekeeper on their English estate, discovering more desire and intimacy than she thought possible. Sylvia Kristel starred in a 1981 film version, while Richard Madden appeared in a toned down 2015 telemovie take.

“Life of Pi” scribe David Magee wrote the script for the new take while Laurence Mark, Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent will produce.
