Netflix has acquired worldwide rights to the Toronto Film Fest entry “His Three Daughters” starring Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon.
The deal was reportedly made for just under $7 million and follows the three actresses who play very different sisters who converge after their father’s health declines.
It marks the third major sale out of Toronto following Anna Kendrick’s “Woman of the Hour” and Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man,” which both scored rave reviews.
In other acquisition news, Universal Pictures Content Group has acquired international rights to “Taxi to the Dark Side” director Alex Gibney’s latest documentary “Musk”.
The project, originally sold at the Cannes Market, is dubbed a “definitive and unvarnished examination” of the controversial entrepreneur and businessman behind Tesla, SpaceX and X (aka. Twitter) who is also the world’s richest man with a fortune of around $187 billion.
HBO Documentary Films pre-bought North American streaming and TV rights with plans for a theatrical release.
