Murphy Dismisses “Dahmer” Contact Claims

Netflix

Producer Ryan Murphy has reportedly dismissed claims his Netflix series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” did not contact the families of the victims of Jeffrey Dahmer prior to its release on the streamer.

Murphy attended a press event at the DGA Theatre in Los Angeles last night for the series, a show which has become one of the year’s biggest TV hits and has been dominating the charts despite a mixed critical reception.

He says the production used a group of researchers to conduct over three-and-a-half years of looking into the true stories of the Dahmer’s murders. He adds that the production reached out to twenty families and friends of the victims during the show’s writing process to get some input – but “not a single person responded to us in that process”.

The series has sparked controversy over its accuracy with journalist Anne Schwartz, who broke the story of Dahmer’s killings, saying the seris “does not bear a great deal of resemblance to the facts of the case.”

“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is available everywhere via Netflix.
