Capcom had its turn at Summer GamesFest week yesterday with a panel devoted to their upcoming titles and several updates announced regarding the “Resident Evil” franchise.
First up, the long-awaited current-gen updates for the “Resident Evil 2” and “Resident Evil 3” remakes along with “Resident Evil 7” have gone live for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The free update adds current-gen features including 4K support, improved framerates and ray tracing to the titles. The PC version now requires Windows 10 and DirectX12 to run.
Next up, “Resident Evil: Village” will be getting an update called ‘Winters Expansion’ that will add three key new features – a third-person mode, an update called ‘Additional Orders’ in Mercenaries mode which adds new playable characters, and new story DLC called ‘Shadows of Rose’.
‘Shadows of Rose’ is a semi-sequel and has players controlling Ethan’s daughter Rose, who is now older and struggles with the terrifying powers she was born with. To break free of the curse of her powers, she enters the consciousness of the Megamycete.
The new DLC, and a complete ‘Gold Edition’ of the game, will be available from October 28th. That’s the same day the game’s multiplayer spin-off “Resident Evil RE:Verse” – a six-player deathmatch competitive MP mode – launches.
There was also another oh-so-brief glimpse at gameplay from the upcoming “Resident Evil 4” remake. Check out clips tied to all of these updates below.
