In the wake of “No Time to Die” being postponed until November earlier today, speculation is quickly rising as to what will be pushed next?
The only other two box-office juggernauts opening before May are Paramount’s “A Quiet Place Part II” and Disney’s “Mulan”. The former isn’t expected to be impacted as it will do much of its business domestically, but obvious questions have arisen about the latter which is much more reliant on international box-office.
With Chinese cinemas still closed, the film’s most key international market, a push seems understandable. Today though a Disney spokesperson has confirmed to Variety that the release date for “Mulan” in the U.S. remains unchanged – it will still arrive on March 27th as planned.
However, the film will be delayed in certain foreign markets to open at a later date. With a production budget of $200 million, it’s arguably the studio’s biggest tentpole for this year so it needs to do big business globally in order to make profit.
