“Mr & Mrs. Smith” Renewed For Season 2

Amazon Prime Video has officially renewed its “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” TV series for a second season.

The project, which hails from co-creators and executive producers Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, is a reimagining of the 2005 film of the same name.

Donald Glover (“Community”) and Maya Erskine (“PEN15”) starred in the first season as two lonely strangers who land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travels, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan.

The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone.

Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?

Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, and Paul Dano co-starred whilst Ron Perlman, Sarah Paulson, Eiza González, Billy Campbell and Alexander Skarsgard guest starred in the first season.

Sloane will return as showrunner for the second season, but neither Glover nor Erskine are expected to return as their characters according to Variety – though Amazon won’t confirm either way. Glover remains onboard as an executive producer though.
