It’s been beaten, broken, and burned. Now, the ashes of what’s left of movie ticket subscription service MoviePass are being sold off and could be anyone’s for as low as $250,000.
A court overseeing the sale of MoviePass’ assets has set June 18th as the deadline for interested bidders. MoviePass parent Helios and Matheson Analytics filed for Chapter 7 liquidation in January and at the time listed the estimated value of assets at between $1 million-$10 million.
That was before it was revealed that none of the personally identifiable information on former MoviePass customers (including email addresses) will be part of the bankruptcy sale – arguably the most valuable piece of data from the now-defunct service.
So what’s left? According to court documents, there’s the company’s proprietary software and mobile app coding, the official website and services, some sample polling analyses with selective operating metrics, five domain names including moviepass.com, trademarks, and a trio of patents.
The auction is scheduled to take place telephonically on June 25th.
