20th Century Fox has optioned David Petersen’s Eisner-winning graphic novel series “Mouse Guard” with plans to turn it into a CG live-action feature.
“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” director Matt Reeves and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” writer Gary Whitta will adapt the film which Reeves will only produce, not direct.
The story follows anthropomorphic mice and is set in medieval times, focusing on a brotherhood of mice that is sworn to protect the common folk. The studio plans the film as a live-action movie utilizing the performance-capture technology pioneered on the ‘Apes’ franchise and Disney’s “The Jungle Book”.
Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are also onboard as producers.
