Oscar nominee Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent,” “Civil War”) has closed a deal to star alongside Kristen Stewart in the vampire thriller “Flesh of the Gods”.
In addition, A24 has boarded the project as the film’s U.S. distributor. “Mandy” helmer Panos Cosmatos directs the project first announced two years ago.
The story follows Raoul (Moura) and Alex (Stewart), a married couple in glittering 1980s Los Angeles who descend each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into an electric nighttime realm.
When they cross paths with the mysterious and enigmatic Nameless and her hard-partying cabal, Raoul and Alex are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence.
Moura takes over the make lead role from Oscar Isaac who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.
Andrew Kevin Walker (“Se7en”) pens the script from a story by Cosmatos and Walker. Stewart, Adam McKay, Maggie McLean, Betsy Koch, Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo are producing.
