“Mortal Kombat” Actor On New Film’s Fatalities

One of the most famous aspects of the “Mortal Kombat” game series has been one of those things the films were never able to include – ‘Fatalities’.

From Sub-Zero’s spine-ripping out fun of the first game to the more recent acts such as Kung Lao’s spinning saw-blade dissecting opponents groin first, the games are infamous for the sheer over-the-top imaginative brutality in the moves that end fights.

Actor Lewis Tan (“Deadpool 2”) is set to star in the new film which was shot last year in South Australia and he promises not only does the new film have fatalities, but those involved aren’t going shy on the gore. He tells ComicBook.com:

“Let me just say this, there were some days on set that I felt sick. I’m not kidding. They did not… They did not hold back.”

Producer Todd Garner has previously said they are relying heavily on practical effects with the new film and so there’s not a lot of CG animation.

Simon McQuoid helms the film which also stars Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, and Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs.

“Mortal Kombat” is set to premiere in theaters on January 15th.
