“Kim’s Convenience” star Paul Sun-Hyung will play Uncle Iroh, Lim Kay Siu (“Anna and The King”) is Monk Gyatso, and Ken Leung (“Lost”) is Commander Zhao in the live-action remake of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” on Netflix.
The series unfolds in a fantasy world divided into four nations each centered around one of the four elements. A century after the Fire Nation launched an attack and pledged war on the world, a new young Airbender named Aang – an Avatar who can master all four elements – is discovered.
The original series ran from 2005-2008 on Nickelodeon and more recently has been a big hit on Netflix. Production on the live-action remake is now officially underway on this adaptation of the beloved and groundbreaking animated series with Pixomondo Virtual Production set to employ “Mandalorian” style virtual production stages heavily throughout.
The streamer has also released two photos of the cast today – one a larger shot of the whole cast, the other a smaller one focused on the four leads – Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio Tarbell), Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu).
