More Disney TV Series & Movies Announced

More Disney+ original works have been confirmed as a part of the Mouse House’s investor day presentation and join the previously reported on Marvel, “Star Wars,” live-action and animated shows and movies on the way.

Some slipped through the cracks in the utter deluge of information yesterday so here’s a round up of what was missed in the other articles – shows and movies often already reported on in recent months but are now finally being confirmed by the studio which means they should be going ahead.

“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” might be ending in 2021, but that family won’t be leaving screens anytime soon. Kris Jenner, Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner have all made a deal to ‘create global content’ to stream exclusively on Hulu. Whatever it is, expect the Kardashian empire to rise again in late 2021.

Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast” film will get a prequel series that will follow LeFou (Josh Gad) and Gaston (Luke Evans) and will feature all-new music composed by Alan Menken.

“The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” will continue the story of the films with Emilio Estevez returning as Gordon Bombay and Lauren Graham joining the cast. Check out the first teaser for this at the bottom of the page.

There’s also series reboots of “Turner and Hooch” with Josh Peck in Tom Hanks role (not the dog), and the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” novels.

Then comes a re-imagination of “Swiss Family Robinson” from “Battlestar Galactica” creator Ronald Moore and “Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon Chu.

“Big Shot” is an original series based on concept by David E. Kelley and is set in a world of women’s high school basketball. John Stamos, Yvette Nicole Brown and Jessalyn Gilsig star.

Simon Pegg will voice swashbuckling weasel Buck alongside prankster possum brothers Crash and Eddie in the new feature “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild” which serves as the next work in the “Ice Age” franchise.

Following three live-action features, “Night in the Museum” will return on Disney+ as an animated film in 2021 with Shawn Levy also returning to direct.

Numerous docuseries projects for National Geographic were announced. “Welcome to Earth” sees Will Smith going into an active volcano and deep under the ocean in a show being produced by Darren Aronofsky and “One Strange Rock” producers Nutopia.

That joins Chris Hemsworth-led doco series “Limitless” which sees him engaging in insane physical challenges to help research longevity, and the nature documentaries “A Real Bug’s Life” and “America the Beautiful”.

Nat Geo is also shifting its anthology series “Genius” over to Disney+ starting with its just greenlit fourth season which will focus on civil rights movement icon Martin Luther King, Jr. and follows on from the third season about Aretha Franklin to launch on Nat Geo next year.
