More Details On Those Gta Remasters
Rockstar Games

The other day came a report that Take-Two interactive had three remasters in the works, with at least one of them likely from “Grand Theft Auto” and “Red Dead Redemption” maker Rockstar Games.

That followed on from months of speculation that Rockstar is working on remakes or remasters of several classic “Grand Theft Auto” titles – especially in the wake of DMCA takedowns of some fan-made classic GTA mods.

Well, Kotaku has done a follow-up report and have learned from sources that Rockstar is remastering three classic “Grand Theft Auto” titles with plans for release this Fall across all platforms bar possibly PC and mobile which could slip into early next year.

The source says the three games getting the overhaul are “Grand Theft Auto III,” “Grand Theft Auto Vice City” and “Grand Theft Auto San Andreas”. All three are being remastered using Unreal Engine and will be a blend of ‘new and old graphics’ that tries to “stay true to the PS2-era GTA games as much as possible”.

The UI for the games are being updated as well, but will retain the same classic style. Scottish studio Rockstar Dundee is reportedly leading the remastering charge with the titles to expected to be launched as one package which will be digital-only.

In addition, the site says Rockstar also has plans to develop new ports of games like “Red Dead Redemption” but the future of those remasters depends on how well this GTA trilogy sells.
