Actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman smartly beat the press to it this morning by using social media to post the first photo of their Deadpool and Wolverine characters on the set of “Deadpool 3”.
The project has been filming a fight scene between the two characters on a beach in the UK on Monday and by doing that reveal early this morning, they were able to steal the thunder from the inevitable paparazzi photos to follow.
Now nearly three dozen photos have emerged over at The Daily Mail showing the characters engaged in a wire-assisted fight. Both actors were involved in the scene, with Reynolds and Jackman photographed between takes (Reynolds with mask off) being friendly and working with the crew. Jackman’s stunt double can also be seen.
Beyond the better look at the costumes, especially Woverine’s swanky new yellow outfit, the photos reveal two bits of set decoration. The first is what appears to be an old missile of some sort half-buried in the sand.
On a much bigger scale, a multi-storey sandstone-esque carving of the old 20th Century Fox film logo is also seen half-buried in the sand suggesting the meta-commentary of the film is alive and well.
The paper also has something of a synopsis which sounds unofficial and potentially fanmade. It claims in the film, Deadpool will use Cable’s time travel machine to save Wolverine before his death in 2029, and they will end up lost in the Multiverse, where they will be pursued by Mobius (Owne Wilson). Emma Corrin plays a villain in the film, which is slated to premiere on May 3rd 2024.
