A little over a year ago, Netflix and AMC Networks struck a deal that saw highly acclaimed AMC series like “Interview with the Vampire” and “Dark Winds” coming to Netflix.
The deal was originally a promotional move with the hope that people would see these shows on Netflix and be captivated enough that they would tune in to AMC or the AMC+ service.
The deal appears to have been working out for everyone, so much so that the companies are expanding their deal, which will see a bunch of new AMC titles added to Netflix in the U.S. and select international markets.
It will start in the U.S. on September 30th with the arrival of the second season of “Interview with the Vampire,” which achieved one of the highest Metacritic scores of any show on television last year.
Joining it shortly after will be a third season of “Dark Winds” and the second seasons of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” “The Walking Dead: Dead City” and “Mayfair Witches”. The upcoming “Talamasca: The Secret Order” series will be added next year.
That’s not all as a bunch of library content will also be added including all five seasons of “Orphan Black,” spin-off “Orphan Black: Echoes” along with “Parish, “This is Going to Hurt,” “NOS4A2” and “Soulmates”.
AMC shows that were available on the service in the past year reportedly generated 210 million global views. AMC, meanwhile, says it saw ‘significant increases’ in both subscriber acquisition and viewership for its franchise series after prior seasons were added to Netflix in the United States.
In fact, several titles like “Dark Winds” and “Dead City” saw viewership jumps of 400% and 1000% respectively over pre-Netflix levels.
