Netflix

Just one week after the third season premiered, Netflix has announced that production on a fourth season of its anthology series “Monster” is now underway in Los Angeles with Ella Beatty in the lead role of Lizzie Borden.

Beatty will play the infamous woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother in 1892 in Massachusetts. Borden was tried and acquitted for the murders, but the case garnered massive attention.

The rest of the cast has also been revealed with Charlie Hunnam set to play Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s father. Hunnam led the show’s third season as notorious serial killer Ed Gein.

Also starring will be Vicky Krieps as the Borden’s live-in maid Bridget Sullivan, Rebecca Hall as Lizzie’s stepmother Abby Borden, Billie Lourd as Lizzie’s older sister Emma, and Jessica Barden as Lizzie’s actress friend Nance O’Neill.

Max Winkler, who directed multiple episodes of the third season, will helm the first episode in the fourth. The first season, starring Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer, remains Netflix’s No. 4 most popular English-language TV show ever.

The second season, about Lyle and Erik Menendez, scored plenty of critical attention and cultural conversion. The third season debuted at No. 2 in Netflix’s Top 10 with 12.2 million views globally in its first three days.
