Momoa Has No Idea How “Fast 11” Is Going

Universal Pictures

It seems no one is quite sure how far “Fast 11,” or rather “Fast X: Part 2,” has progressed over at Universal Pictures.

We do know that the plan is to take the franchise back to its street racing roots with a mostly Los Angeles-set entry, and that helmer Louis Leterrier is expected to return. A loose April 2027 release date window has also been set, which would suggest filming needs to get going by early next year.

Star Vin Diesel also previously teased back in June that the late Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner character could be reunited with Diesel’s Dominic Toretto character onscreen – presumably in the film’s finale. Walker’s brothers as stand-ins and some digital face-swapping would presumably be used to pull it off.

Diesel also posted an update on Instagram yesterday about his projects, but only gave a brief mention to the next “Fast and Furious” film with no mention of dates.

Jason Momoa, who played the campy villain Dante in “Fast X,” tells The Playlist today that he knows no more than the rest of us when asked when it was coming: “I would love to come back and play, man. People all over the world love that character – it’s crazy. But I got no script, so not that soon.”

Momoa was happy to talk about his work on the currently shooting “Street Fighter” film though: “There’s no one better to play Blanka, so that’s why I’m doing it. We’ll do what the audience would like to see — practical, CG — we’re gonna do our best. The cast is insane. My son and I play it; it’s the only game I played.”
